About
Riding in from Cowtown, Charlie Blake and the Good Medicine burst onto the Dallas/Fort Worth music scene, bringing back the glory days of classic country music when Gram Parsons and The Flying Burrito Brothers forged the modern bridge between Country and Rock 'n' Roll. Founded by singer-songwriter Charlie Blake, The Good Medicine is a three-piece outfit featuring Ben Olsson on the drums, Alex Fejer on the bass guitar, and Charlie himself on lead guitar and vocals.
Originally gathering together to jam, The Good Medicine quickly developed a unique sound that calls back to those early days of Sweetheart at the Rodeo with a raw edge that can only be described as a shade of Social Distortion. Olsson is dynamic behind the drum kit as the backbone of The Good Medicine, while Fejer’s funk background on the bass guitar brings a diverse range of sound and energy to the band. Together with Charlie Blake, whether they’re lighting it up on original tracks like No One Gets Out Alive and Waiting Around, or getting into the nitty-gritty of tales of woe on tracks like The Letter or Mr. Unlucky, they capture a sound that can only be characterized as honest and fresh, and makes for a damn good time.
So whether you’re an avid music lover looking for a new band to discover, or down on your luck looking to cheer yourself up with something fun, check your local concert listings. You might just find some Good Medicine.
